Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Brooklyn follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Reminds me of my home towns rec center. Started coming here for lap swimming and I love it. Out of the way and mellow. Bring flip flops and a lock if you’re going to use the showers or pool.

The Tuesday and Thursday morning total body fitness class from SHAPE UP is the bomb! It's such a wonderful high energy and heart-healthy workout class, that I drive for 30 minutes each way twice a week to attend it. The swimming pool and the water aerobics classes are also pretty wonderful.

They have really good programming with instructors who actually care, and classes that aren’t catered to older out of shape people. But the gym equipment needs help, and this is a big gym. There must be about six elliptical machines and every one of them is broken, along with the leg press, both of the electronic stationary bikes, some treadmills, among other things. The water fountains are broken too, every one of them. I will say though this is the one rec center I've seen with a core station in the weight room, so that's something at least. Hopefully that doesn't break too!

Water fountain is destroyed. Swimming hours are severely limited. Pool table needs refelting. No digital entry. Neighborhood friends of the front door staff get to use the secret visitor log, I was told I had to buy a membership to even see the place when I first arrived at the building.

I used to go to that recreation center with my 1-month free trial back in 2005. I like it there to some extent, and it was cool seeing a dance battle where a couple or a few gals partake in. However, my worst moment that i had inside that recreation center was when it was time to play some ball' some tall guy who was wearing red shorts and a long white shirt from the opposite team from mine rudely told me to get off the court (seconds after the game started) just because he didn't like the way that i played by driving the ball to the basket on the very first play of the game and i asked why he wants me off the court' he said i suck so i left the court to prevent the confrontation from escalating even though a part of me wanted to smash my umbrella on him for that but he wasn't worth it and am the type of person who generally doesn't strike first. I stop going there because i think i was being targeted for a fight but luckily i wasn't physically attacked because i was told that since me showing off a bit of my martial arts moves prevented me from being attacked by 1 or more individuals. It's a good recreational center to some extent but not everybody there were nice to me.
